As a companion to the other WCC ‘Thursday Groups’, this informal group meets every month throughout the year.
The Contemporary Group offers an exciting opportunity to step outside the boundaries of conventional ‘club photography’ to discover alternative and new-found freedoms of expression. By encouraging the attitude that pictures are ‘about something’ rather than ‘of something’, the group seeks to promote a wide range of opportunities for personal artistic development and expression through examples of the genre, constructive review of members’ work, discussion, interpretation and the option of participating in group themes and projects.
Taking our broad direction from the RPS Contemporary Group, we copy that ethos herewith: "Photography that explores the photographer’s personal view of contemporary society, environment, art or culture, usually through a themed body of work".
Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday in the month currently via Zoom
