Tuesday 7th Polina Plotnikova - "Starting from a Blank Canvas"

This talk covers Creative Flower Portraiture and Still Life. Both themes are illustrated with images from her studio work. - The "Flower portraits" part of the evening will be about Polina's approach to flower photography which is somewhat similar to portrait photography. She always tries to find a unique look, study mood and character, unlock its hidden beauty. in the "Still Life" part of the evening she covers composition, light, textures and colours that she uses when creating still life setups. There will be a few schematic illustrations to show her studio hardware and to demonstrate various stages of putting together a still life setup.

Tuesday 14th Simon Caplin - "Working Lives"

In this talk, Simon presents his images of working craftspeople and artisans and provides a range of advice and guidance on working with busy people and getting the best out of them without disrupting their need to hit important deadlines and using flash in limited space and often challenging settings.

Tuesday 21st Ann Miles - "From The Concrete to the Abstract"

Ann is an FRPS. She has a scientific background and taught nature and general photography to degree level. She gained an Associateship in Nature and Fellowship in Visual Arts and now sits on the Natural History Distinction Panel. This talk looks at concrete as a building material and the whole genre of architecture that developed but also the application of the terms concrete (factual, documentary photography) and abstract (creative, experimental photography) as they apply to our image making. This means many techniques for photographing architecture and lots of Creative techniques and ideas.
