CPG 'Viewpoint' e-book February 2021
Our well attended and lively February meeting proved to have many highlights.
Please note Worcestershire Camera Club special interest groups (Digital, Contemporary, Audio Visual, and Photography Development) are currently running online via Zoom. Members signed up for notifications from the groups will receive emails with details of the meetings.
As a companion to the other WCC ‘Thursday Groups’, this informal group meets every month throughout the year.
The Contemporary Group offers an exciting opportunity to step outside the boundaries of conventional ‘club photography’ to discover alternative and new-found freedoms of expression. By encouraging the attitude that pictures are ‘about something’ rather than ‘of something’, the group seeks to promote a wide range of opportunities for personal artistic development and expression through examples of the genre, constructive review of members’ work, discussion, interpretation and the option of participating in group themes and projects.
Taking our broad direction from the RPS Contemporary Group, we copy that ethos herewith: "Photography that explores the photographer’s personal view of contemporary society, environment, art or culture, usually through a themed body of work".
Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday in the month at the Claines Royal British Legion, Cornmeadow Lane, Worcester at 7.30pm. If you would like to join us, just come along. You don't have to 'join' the group; as long as you are a paid up member of the club you can attend any meeting. Visitors are also welcome to attend for a maximum of two meetings. A small charge of £2 per meeting covers costs and includes refreshments.
